About KidsCalc
KidsCalc is a free collection of calculators and sizing guides built specifically for Australian parents. Every tool uses metric units, references Australian standards and guidelines, and is designed to answer the questions you're actually googling — in a shop, at the park, or at 11pm before a school ski trip.
Why Australian-specific matters
Most calculator and sizing guide websites are US-based. They use imperial measurements (pounds, inches, Fahrenheit), reference American product standards, recommend brands not sold in Australia, and size kids using US clothing, shoe and bike standards that don't match what you'll find on the shelf at Kmart, Target, or your local bike shop.
Australian parents end up converting units, second-guessing US sizing charts, and wading through irrelevant results. KidsCalc fixes that.
Australian standards & guidelines we use
Where calculators reference specific standards or guidelines, we list the source. Here are the key ones:
Important: health calculators are guides only
Health and medication calculators on KidsCalc — including the paracetamol dose calculator, water intake calculator, BMI calculator, and sleep calculator — provide general guidance only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional — your GP, paediatrician, or pharmacist — before making health decisions for your child, particularly regarding medication dosing. If you are concerned about your child's health, seek medical attention promptly.
In a medical emergency, call 000. For poisoning enquiries, call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 (24 hours, 7 days).
Sizing calculators (clothing, shoes, helmets, bikes) are practical guides based on published size charts and are not subject to the same medical caveat, but individual products vary — always check the specific product's sizing information before purchasing.
